Abstract
This paper presents a new limited switching frequency digital hysteresis current control method for a five-level neutral point clamped (NPC) Type G medium voltage induction motor drive. An indirect rotor field-oriented controller (RFOC) is used to speed control. The hardware topology and the controller implementation are described. The proposed method is compared to the traditional one, which is based on sampling frequency limitation. Results obtained from computer simulations are presented. It can be noted from them an improvement of the voltage and current harmonics spectra and diminution of the torque ripple amplitude.
