Abstract
This paper presents the estimation of the rotor position of a switched reluctance machine - SRM 6/4 with external rotor, operating at high speed (up to 50 krpm), in a Kinetic Energy Storage System (SAEC) - flywheel. The rotor position can be estimated using the phase current and flux linkage relationship, and rule bases based on the SRM magnetization curve. The SAEC is implemented in Matlab/Simulink and its control is performed in the Texas Instruments DSP (Digital signal processor), Delfino F28379D, using the Processor-in-the-loop (PIL) simulation technique. The simulation results are presented to show how the developed sensorless scheme works. Implementations are analyzed and optimized to be able to run on a real system using the same microprocessor model.
