Abstract
In this work, the characteristics of the linear hybrid model used in electric power transmission systems expansion planning are analyzed in detail. The analysis takes into account the origin of the mathematical model, the usefulness of the model in the historical process and the possibilities of use in the current context of modeling and solving the electric power transmission systems expansion planning problem. It should be noted that the linear hybrid model was not properly used in the process of evolution of mathematical models until reaching the most complete mathematical model, which is the AC model. Comparative tests with other models and results are presented using data from electrical systems of medium and very high complexity.
