Abstract

Solar photovoltaic (PV) energy is an important source of renewable energy, but it faces challenges related to the increase in temperature of operating solar panels, resulting in efficiency losses over time. A promising approach to mitigate these challenges is the adoption of photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) hybrid systems, which integrate thermal collectors to harness the residual heat generated by the solar panels. This article proposes a methodology for the efficient sizing of residential PV/T systems, considering both electrical and thermal aspects. This methodology uses parameters from PV/T system construction modeling and residential data to compare the efficiency of a PV/T hybrid system with a common PV system.
