Abstract

This paper presents a study of the SVPWM (Vector Space Pulse Width Modulation) technique applied to two-level inverters, focusing on analyzing duty-cycle calculations adopted in the SVPWM. Two different mathematical approaches are analyzed: the conventional (or trigonometric) one and the other based on the g,h transform. Considerations regarding software development of these approaches are presented and discussed. Computational simulation results indicate that both approaches provide identical duty cycle profiles under same initial conditions. However, performance tests indicate that the approach based on g,h transform has a 23% lower execution time in comparison with the conventional approach to calculate the duty-cycles.
