Abstract

This work addresses a gap in the literature in the field of customizable smart space solutions by proposing an extensible and versatile framework based on digital twins – virtual representations of physical objects, processes, or systems. The framework maps virtual and conceptual objects with IoT and retrofit, using three abstraction levels: physical, virtual, and external network. The proposal allows performing actions on physical objects from their digital twins and monitoring external variables. A proof of concept validated the framework in a laboratory with open source and free technologies.
