Abstract

With technological advancements in lighting, LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology has gained international prominence due to its high energy efficiency and longer lifespan. However, like any equipment, this technology is also subject to failures. The Internet of Things (IoT) enables the connection of sensing devices with user interfaces via networks, allowing for the monitoring of various equipment. Consequently, a quicker response from entities responsible for maintaining lighting assets is possible, as IoT technologies enable real-time visualization of monitored parameters. This article presents the development of an IoT system for monitoring public lighting networks to assist municipalities and utilities in maintaining these assets. Among other functionalities, the system allows real-time monitoring of electrical parameters through an online dashboard using Node-RED, employing the MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) communication protocol to send and request data from the network.
