Abstract

State estimation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of power systems, providing reliable information about the network operating condition. The management of gross errors is key in this process. The use of synchrophasor meters enabled the creation of hybrid state estimation, with the fusion estimation method standing out. However, the increase in the size of electrical networks causes a problem in the processing of these errors, due to the decrease in sensitivity of the widely employed J(x̂) detection test. A recent solution is the partitioning of the network into smaller dimension clusters. This paper proposes an expansion of this strategy to the processing of synchrophasor measurements in the hybrid fusion estimation architecture. Its implementation and effectiveness are evaluated on the IEEE 57-bus and 118-bus test systems, indicating significant improvement in the detection of gross errors, especially those of smaller magnitude. Additionally, the fusion of estimates in rectangular coordinates, under the proposed partitioning, shows adequate computational performance, thus confirming to be a promising solution for application to real power systems.
