Abstract

A methodology for analyzing the coordination of protection of electrical energy distribution systems on the Simulink/Matlab platform is proposed. To validate the methodology, recloser and relay models developed in the Electrical Systems Group of the Federal University of Campina Grande were used, which were installed in the IEEE 34-bar test system. The simulation results highlighted the importance of coordination between equipment models to assess system reliability, especially in scenarios of primary protection failure, where the performance of backup protection is decisive for minimizing interruption time.
