Abstract

This paper proposes a method to define reinforcements in transmission lines in electrical power systems with high penetration of wind power generation considering contingencies in the network and limitations imposed by the available budget. The proposed formulation uses the linear optimal power flow where transmission losses are considered and Lagrange Multipliers are used to identify transmission reinforcements under budget constraints. Wind power generation and demand uncertainties are represented by grouping historical series. The IEEE-118 test system is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
