Abstract

Data-Driven Control (DDC) methods have been gaining attention over the last few decades, as they do not require modeling in the tuning process of industrial controllers. In this article, the Virtual Reference Feedback Tuning (VRFT) technique is used to tune Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers with adaptive gains. A second-order polynomial is used to orchestrate the gains of this controller to compensate the nonlinearities of the Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) and Stirred Tank Heater (STH) processes.
