Abstract

Multilevel inverters attracted much attention the last thirty years. Among them, the five-level topologies produce an output voltage of better quality than the three-level ones. A predictive control scheme is developed to control the output currents and regulate the flying capacitor voltage of five five-level inverters. Losses, thermal stress, and voltage and current stress are compared among the five inverters. Also, transient results show the excellent performance of the control scheme.
