Abstract

This article presents the application of the RUN (Runge-Kutta Optimizer) metaheuristic in the robust tuning of PSS (Power System Stabilizers) and TCSC (Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator) controllers with a supplementary POD (Power Oscillation Damping) controller. The objective of tuning is to maximize the damping of the electrical system considering several operating points and obeying the limits of the controller parameters. A multi-machine system composed of 4 generators and 11 buses is used to verify the performance of the method. The results obtained show that the RUN metaheuristic is capable of tuning the controllers under study, ensuring maximum damping of the electrical system analyzed. Furthermore, RUN has superior performance compared to the ALO (Ant Lion Optimizer) and GWO (Grey Wolf Optimizer) metaheuristics.
