Abstract

Photovoltaic solar energy is an important renewable resource that plays a significant role in the development of a sustainable modern society. A common issue affecting photovoltaic modules arranged in the form of arrays is mismatch, which can be classified as temporary or permanent. Among solutions to this problem, the use of power electronic converters is a prominent solution within the realm of differential power processing (DPP) compared to bypass diodes in terms of energy recovery from the modules. In this context, this study aims to develop a new DPP topology that allows for the replacement of some controlled switches with diodes, thus making the drive circuit less complex and reducing the structure cost. The converter performance is investigated through simulation, demonstrating the possibility of recovering part of the power that could not be extracted under mismatch conditions.
