Abstract

With the digital transformation advancement in the industrial environment, the need for changes in automation systems emerged. These systems have become necessary for portability, interoperability, and modularity. In 2016, a group of companies started the Open Process Automation Forum to define a new architecture that meets these requirements. Only in 2019, the first document with definitions of the new standard was published. The standard continues to be developed, as well as the new equipment and software required for implementation. This article presents a systematic literature review on the Open Process Automation Standard.
