Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of overvoltages in residential distribution networks caused by the increasing integration of photovoltaic (PV) generation in Brazil. It analyses a solution to maintain voltage compliance with PRODIST standards through the coordinated insertion of reactive elements, specifically inductors and capacitors, at the end of residential feeders. By dynamically adjusting the reactive power injected or absorbed by the system, it is possible to maintain the voltage profile within the limits established by technical standards, ensuring the quality of power supplied to consumers. The results of numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed solution, demonstrating its efficacy in both overvoltage and undervoltage situations, thereby ensuring the stability of the distribution system voltage and preventing the undesired operation of PV inverter protections.
