Abstract

Time-delayed systems are present in different situations and for different reasons. Therefore, it is necessary to develop control strategies to compensate for delays. The present work proposes a tuning rule for the simplified filtered Smith predictor and its performance is compared with two other controllers, a proportional-integral(PI)-proportional-derivative(PD) and a PI, all applied to integrative processes with time delay. The results show better control performance with a predictor tuned by the proposed rule both in the absence and presence of uncertainty.
