Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive methodology for analyzing Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) crossings, comparing data collected through LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology with field measurements. The point cloud obtained by LiDAR technology was filtered and processed using Global Mapper and QGIS software. To illustrate, analyzes of two OHTL crossings in the region of Porto Alegre, RS, are presented. Simulation were carried out based on the critical conditions, considering cable properties and environmental factors at each crossing, with the aim of verifying whether the safety distance of the span is in compliance with the standard NBR 5422/1985. The LiDAR technology proved flexible, applicable, and suitable for this type of analysis, which allows field inspections to be minimized.
