Abstract

This work addresses the issue of switching losses in power converters and proposes a modification to the Edge-Aligned Pulse Width Modulation (EA-PWM) strategy aimed at simplifying control and increasing the flexibility of the auxiliary circuit’s off period. The implementation of this modification, named as constant duty cycle EA-PWM, is simulated and evaluated in Simulink/MATLAB using a PLECS thermal model. Compared to the reference control strategy, the proposed method achieved comparable switching loss power. However, further studies are recommended to assess its applicability in different inverter design characteristics.
