Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the numerical performance of the Numerical Laplace Transform (NLT). The NLT considers practical restrictions imposed by digital signal processing, such as Laplace transform discretization and a finite number of frequency points. Such restrictions lead to time-domain signal reconstruction errors. We analyze two NLT aspects: the windowing functionσ(ω) and the frequency displacement constant c. A theoretical analysis of the NLT using the unit step is carried out to calibrate σ(ω) and c, and to assess the overall NLT performance. We also consider a transmission line energization under open circuit conditions. We verify that, in this case, smooth transition σ(ω) generate fewer time-domain reconstruction errors than sharper transition σ(ω).
