Abstract

The paper presents a bidirectional DC-DC converter with wide voltage gain (WVG) based on the three-state switching cell (TSSC), which for simplification purposes is named 'DC-DC WVG-TSSC converter'. The proposed converter was adapted to operate with voltage gains aboveGv>4, after verifying that the classic DC-DC Boost converter has limitations due to conduction losses when the duty cycle is high (D > 0.75). In addition to the described characteristic, the proposed topology has the advantages, soft switching of the power switches and excellent voltage division in the components guaranteed by the high frequency transformer. To verify the operating principle, the converter was simulated for the following nominal values: output powerPo= 2kW, battery voltageVbat= 48V, bus voltageVbarr= 800V, and switching frequencyfs= 25kHz.
