Abstract

In this paper, the ability of power transformers, models used in overhead and underground electrical systems, to propagate high-frequency PLC signals between low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MT) terminals was evaluated. The analyzes observe the attenuation profiles and performance of PLC communication channels, operating in the range of 100 kHz to 500 kHz. The analyzes include cross transmission between LV and MT terminals, where it was observed that the attenuation profile and quality of the PLC communication channel, for some routes, LV->MT and MT->LV, are similar to those observed when injects and reads the signal in the same phase.
