Abstract

This article discusses several techniques employed to calculate the surface potential gradient in overhead transmission line conductors. The objective is to elucidate the physical aspects associated with the phenomenon, as well as to present an overview of the most widely used existing methodologies. Additionally, the CalcC LRE application is presented, a software developed by the authors to calculate the potential gradient, based on a variation of the Market and Mengele method and the application of the Finite Element Method, through the COMSOL Multiphysics software, used here to validate the method implemented in the application.
