Abstract

This work presents the development carried out for the comparison between different techniques regarding efficiency for fault localization in a transmission line, using the theory of traveling waves. The first technique makes use of a Differentiator-Smoother filter, while the other two use the Wavelet Transform for identifying the traveling waves incident at the terminals of the line after a fault occurrence. Data acquisition for testing was performed by modeling an electrical network in the Alternative Transient Program (ATP) software, simulating short-circuits conditions in the system. Signal processing was carried out in MATLAB software, using the Wavelet Toolbox.
