Abstract

The advancement of technologies and greater ease of access to generation from renewable sources, has driven the growth of distributed generation across the world. As a result, the electrical distribution system, which previously only transfered electrical power from the substation towards the loads, now has a new type of operation mode: reverse power flow. In this new condition, protection systems may be subject to inadequate functioning and network voltage levels tend to change. Therefore, this work aims to study the possibility of energy storage devices being a solution for improving energy quality in medium voltage network feeders.
