Abstract

This manuscript presents the instrumentation system developed by UFRJ’s Aerospace Research Group with the aim of being used in tests of hybrid rocket motors for atmospheric sounding rockets. The system consists of two main boxes, each with its own microcomputer, which together enable the control of actuators and the acquisition of data from various sensors spread throughout the motor at a safe distance from where the operation takes place. It should be noted that the current work focused on the implementation and use of such sensors. The selection of sensors for the thruster, the software logic and operation selected, and the communication procedures used are all presented in details. In addition, data acquisition from the sensors are discussed. Results highlighted that this instrumentation ensure a safety and reliable operation.
