Abstract

Real-time operation of Transmission Systems (TSs) demands processing a substantial amount of data to support decision-making at Operation Centers. State estimation is an essential part of this process and is usually applied to TSs using positive sequence equivalents. Three-phase state estimation is widely used in Distribution Systems and presents notable advantages given the specificities of these systems. This paper presents the application of three-phase state estimation on a TS modeled with real data from a portion of the Brazilian electrical system to raise potential analytical gains over state estimation using positive sequence models.
