Abstract

This study explores the implementation of a bidirectional multilevel DC-AC converter, based on the AT-NPC (Advanced T-Type Neutral Point Clamped) topology, for energy storage systems. LS-PWM (Level Shifted – PWM) modulation is employed for switch control, with RB-IGBT (Reverse Blocking – IGBT) switches from Fuji responsible for neutral clamping, eliminating the need for anti-parallel diodes. The converter is designed to operate bidirectionally, connecting a battery bank to an isolated AC grid. Despite increasing the complexity of setup and operation, the multilevel converter reduces switching losses and harmonic distortion, thus becoming a viable alternative for modern energy systems.
