Abstract

This paper proposes a model predictive control algorithm (MPC) for systems with two inputs and one output (TISO), subject to constraints on control signals. The first input achieves steady-state performance conditions, incorporating an integral action to reject constant disturbances in this state. The second control signal is aimed at improving transient response, with the steady-state value of this second signal being user-defined. A case study is conducted, simulating the speed control of an electric vehicle powered by a fuel cell and a supercapacitor. The fuel cell current ensures operation in a steady state, while that of the supercapacitor improves transient performance, handling changes in speed or road slope. Simulation results are presented for both nominal and uncertain cases.
