Abstract

The investment in sectionalizing switches is one of the most effective options to improve reliability of indexes Electrical Energy Distribution Systems (EEDS). The economic and the reliability criteria are conflicting with each other and the cost-benefit relation of the reliability must be optimized. The present work proposes the application of the multi objective meta heuristic Multi-Objective Grey Wolf Optimizer (MOGWO) to the problem of planning switches in EEDS. The objectives are to optimize the system reliability and minimize the investment cost. The Pareto dominance criteria are embedded in the MOGWO search steps to obtain a list non dominated solutions. Different reliability indexes for EEDS are considered. A method based on building matrices that represent the grid topology is applied yo calculate the reliability indexes in an efficient manner. A well-known test system of literature is used to assess the proposed methodology.
