Abstract

LoRaWAN networks are increasingly being used in IoT systems due to their long-range communication and very low power consumption characteristics. In this sense, communication parameters such as spreading factor, bandwidth and transmission power must be adjusted appropriately, as they are critical to ensuring connectivity between network devices. The Adaptive Data Rate (ADR) algorithm was proposed by the LoRa Alliance to enable dynamic parameter adjustment. However, recent studies show that ADR is inefficient. This article presents an improvement to the ADR algorithm based on Fuzzy logic. The proposal was simulated and compared with the standard ADR in different scenarios. The results obtained showed an improvement in network performance when the Fuzzy approach was implemented.
