Abstract

Given the increasing complexity of power distribution networks, exacerbated by the integration of new components and distributed generation, this article presents an effective approach for network reduction while preserving its radial layout. The proposed method, applied to both test and real-world networks, does not require an initial power flow calculation or the manipulation of admittance matrices. It also estimates the behavior of the complete network in terms of voltages. The results demonstrate accurate estimations of voltage, even for the eliminated nodes. In all scenarios, it was possible to establish an equivalent network with a reduction of at least 50% of the total nodes, including the elimination of nodes containing generation. This research significantly contributes to the study of spatially reduced networks, which is essential for the development of optimization models aimed at the operation and expansion of energy distribution systems.
