Abstract

This paper evaluates, through a computationally implemented routine in the frequency domain, the errors made in the approximation of calculating transmission line models that consider a single transformation matriz based on the eigenvectors of a specific matrix in modal decomposition, considering two different geometric configurations of towers. The results obtained in this work show that the approximation incurs greater errors with the distance from the observation point at the end of the line for both analyzed systems. It was also possible to conclude that the effectiveness of such approximation is lower in more asymmetric configurations of conductor distance, thus generating considerable differences in line response. However, such approximation proves to be a valuable tool considering its limitations in different operating scenarios.
