Abstract

This work presents the implementation of a protection and control system for an industrial substation, in accordance with the IEC-61850 Standard. The main objective was to highlight the benefits of digitalizing the substation through of a case study, emphasizing the differences in infrastructure, in its application and in the performance of the process, considering two scenarios. The bench tests consisted of verifying the interoperability performance of the equipment, with and without the use of the IEC-61850 standard. A test set and two digital relays from different manufacturers were used, and the time responses obtained for the TRIP signal of 50BF circuit breaker failure protection were compared, before and after the digitalization of the substation. The simulation results revealed a satisfactory performance of the protection function, allowing to demonstrate the effective performance of the protection and control system as established by the IEC-61850 standard, ensuring interoperability between the protection devices and their more compact infrastructure.
