Abstract

The article compares two techniques for estimating the frequency of sampled signals to address data desynchronization in differential protection based on the Process Bus according to IEC 61850. The first technique uses the Matrix Pencil (MP), while the second uses the Traditional Fourier method. After estimating the frequency, desynchronization compensation is performed, applying the compensated signals to the protection function. The study provides a detailed analysis of frequency estimation techniques in simulated scenarios, considering power system noise, amplitude variation, and harmonic components. Additionally, it evaluates the frequency estimation times, desynchronized signal compensation, and the resulting behavior of differential protection.
