Abstract

This work makes a proposal to reduce harmonic components in three-phase induction machines with predictive controls and current hysteresis. The procedure is based on the calculation of the magnitudes of the harmonics and the harmonic distortion of the motor currents with the fast Fourier transform in one cycle of the current fundamental with the control operating in steady state. The indirect vector control, predictive current controller and current hysteresis controller models are implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation was carried out by injecting third and fifth harmonics into the current references and the results confirm that by varying the phase angle of the added harmonics it is possible to reduce both current harmonics and harmonic distortion and consequently a reduction in ripple. With sufficient hardware resources, this method can be used as an alternative for harmonic minimization and/or harmonic distortion online in a steady state.
