Abstract

The main purpose of this work is to compare the performance of systems to stochastic timed discrete events by means of analytical models, described by stochastic automata and by equivalent computational simulation models, described by stochastic timed Petri nets and also by tropical dynamic models. In the paper, we compare the performance of the three approaches, analysing the trade-offs in terms of cost to development, the accuracy of the results obtained and the computational simulation time. For this purpose, we use a model of a simple client-server service network, where the interest is to evaluate the average waiting time for customers in the queue for an uncontrolled and controlled system.
