Abstract

In recent years, increased investments in space exploration and the miniaturization of electronic components have significantly contributed to the creation and popularization of the CubeSat standard. As a result, many companies and universities have begun to work using this new tool. In this context, the CONASAT project (Constellation of Environmental Nanosatellites) emerges as a partnership between the Regional Center of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE/CRN) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The project aims to present a low-cost solution for the Brazilian Environmental Data Collection System (SBCDA) using nanosatellites (CubeSats). To ensure these nanosatellites operate satisfactorily, some hardware and software solutions are required in their onboard computers (OBC) to mitigate potential failures from the space environment. This article aims to present a onboard computing system, based on FreeRTOS, for the OBCs of the satellites in the CONASAT project.
