Abstract

The energy derived from tidal currents has an intermittent low-frequency nature, but its predictability is ensured due to its correlation with astronomical phenomena. Brazil, with states such as Maranhão, Pará, and Amapá, boasts some of the world’s largest tidal amplitudes, ranging from 6 to 10 meters. This study aims to evaluate the performance of two commercial hydrokinetic turbines, simulating their operation in the Boqueirão Channel. The adopted methodology includes the application of performance metrics, focusing on total energy production. Additionally, an economic analysis was conducted based on the levelized cost of energy.
