Abstract

This paper examines the current state of middleware approaches within the industry context, specifically focusing on a labeling process. In addition to discussing the challenges faced by middleware systems in this context, the paper presents representative solutions designed for an industrial process, highlighting the importance of system elements’ interoperability. By emphasizing the application of technologies such as PLC, robotic arm, factory protocols, artificial intelligence, and computer vision, the work demonstrates how advanced integration and communication networks can enhance the PCB labeling process, improving productivity, reducing errors, and enhancing quality. Furthermore, the article contributes to frameworks within Industry 4.0 by bridging the gap between generic architectures and physical achievements. A web application is also mentioned, enabling real-time monitoring of the labeling process, providing users with greater control over the process and early detection of issues.
