Abstract

Electric vehicles powered by green hydrogen fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries represent a promising innovation for electrified transportation. This paper explores a hybrid energy system that includes a three-port bidirectional isolated DC-DC converter, configured with specific pulse width modulation (PWM) strategies. The study details the interaction of the system components and presents expressions for voltage gain, as well as equations for current stresses in CCM. The proposed converter offers several advantages, including balanced current distribution among the arms and galvanic isolation provided by the single-phase transformer between the three ports. Simulation results were used to validate the mathematical and theoretical analysis, with the converter's rated power being 4 kW. The focus is on future implications for enhancing the efficiency and functionality of these systems in electric vehicles.
