Abstract

This article presents an investigation of failure data in voltage regulators (VRs) of the electrical energy distribution system of the State of Tocantins, in the Northen region of Brazil. Fault tree analysis (FTA) is used to assist the investigation. Real data provided by a concessionaire that operates the distribution system was used. Since 85 technical notes were made available with raw data referring to the year 2023, a raw data filtering procedure was elaborated, and 53 pure failure data were obtained. The classification of failures was realized, as well as was made a statistical analysis of the operational distribution of failures. Additionally, a fault tree was elaborated, in which base, intermediate and top events were defined. Finally, the process that generated failures in the RTs was explained, which makes it possible to elaborated strategies that optimize planning, operation, and maintenance.
