Abstract

This paper compares different modulations applied to a bidirectional DC/DC converter with two active bridges called Dual Active Bridge (DAB). The performance in relation to the efficiency of the DAB converter and the maximum voltage ripple at the output port are the parameters used to classify the modulations. Among the modulations are evaluated: Single Phase-Shift (SPS), Extended Phase-Shift (EPS), and Trapezoidal Modulation (TZM). The experiments were carried out in a simulation environment and used an 800 W DAB converter with a voltage at the input port of 400 V and at the output port of 40 V to 55 V. The TZM modulation showed the highest efficiency results and lowest ripple at the output voltage.
