Abstract

The objective of the paper is to describe the equivalentπcircuit, which represents a transmission line directly in the time domain, in the form of state equations. Rules for forming the state matrices will be developed so that such a line model can be implemented using any computational language. To validate this representation, the model was used to represent transmission lines submitted to energization and lightning strikes . The results obtained were compared to those obtained with a classical line model present in the ATP software. The proposed model has the main characteristics of other line models but, unlike models based on traveling waves, it does not depend of the propagation function of the line and this characteristic, in some situations, can be very advantageous).
