Abstract
LoRa (Long Range) is a communication technology that stands out due to its long range, low cost and low energy consumption, but on the other hand, it has a low transmission rate. In many situations, communication is an essential requirement for a robot, where the choice of technology depends on several factors, such as the implemented resources and the operation location. Since LoRa presents interesting characteristics for applications that do not require a large amount of data and require communication distances greater than those conventionally delivered. Therefore, in this work, a study is carried out to investigate the performance of LoRa communication for application in mobile robotics. As LoRa presents changeable parameters, which impact on its performance, these were initially evaluated to achieve a satisfactory practical response in terms of delays, distances and failures in communication. Finally, a configuration was adopted to control a mobile robot, where the manipulation of the robot proved to be satisfactory for a teleoperation task.
