Abstract

This paper will compare two wake effect modeling, regarding their impacts on optimal positioning of turbines in a wind plant offshore, looking to get a phisical setup that extracts the maximum power plant. For the optimization, there is a problem of discreet nature, non linear and with dimension related directly to the plant size and then, because of that, was chose to apply the computational intelligence called: Bat Algorithm, with some modifications. In order to estimate the wake effect and the potential wind Generation of the plant, this study proposes the comparasion of two models: the reduction results obtained by the Frandsen model, which is the latest in the studies and the Jensen model, the widespread in the literature and the most used in softwares nowadays. The results of this work validated the use of both wake effect methods for the proposed problem and showed the satisfactory performance of the opthimization algorithm in obtaining solutions to the problem.
