Abstract
This paper investigates a new automatic control technique with fractional order based on the analytical calculation of parameters using the gain margin and phase margin (GMPM). The objective is to evaluate the performance of this controller compared to conventional methods in a Power System Stabilizer (PSS) applied to a Power Electrical System in a reduced-scale energy generation model of 10 kVA. Two stabilizers are tuned for comparison: the classic PSS, characterized by three parameters intended for adjustments, and the FOPSS (Fractional Order Power System Stabilizer) whose configuration derives from the frequency response values. The behavior of the compensators is evaluated through simulations in MATLAB/Simulink, including tests of line disconnection and connection and variation of the reference signal in the generation system. The results demonstrate that the FOPSS-GMPM system performs superior in damping electromechanical oscillations and requires less control effort.
