Abstract
Topology errors contaminating network configuration results compromise the performance of subsequently executed applications such as state estimation and contingency analysis. This paper presents a new method for determining the topology which is best supported by available analog measurements. It is based on hypothesis testing, Bayes’theorem, and the minimum exponent of the probability density function associated with the alternative hypotheses. Techniques for solving modified linear systems prevent repeated state estimation execution and overcome numerical difficulties encountered in previous research efforts. The proposed method is assessed through test performed on two substations of IEEE 24 and 30-bus test systems.
