Abstract
Electric vehicles (EVs) are an important tool in electric transition. Their recent deployment has provided new opportunities for the development of ancillary technologies that can overcome their inherent limitations, such as low autonomy when compared to Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles (ICEV) and high acquisition costs. In this context, the improvement of Smart Changing strategies is crucial for optimizing the potential of EVs. One of the ways to explore the capabilities of these vehicles is the vehicleto- building (V2B) technology, which involves the return of energy stored in the batteries of automobiles to buildings. This paper investigates the possibility of using this strategy to reduce electricity cost and demand through a systematic review of the literature from the last four years. The results suggest that V2B can lower electricity costs, but it has limitations related to the precise control of the battery’s charge and discharge cycle, in addition to requiring ancillary services and flexible energy tariff prices for effective reduction of electricity usage and cost.
