Abstract
The roughness in water supply pipes is an important parameter in hydraulic sizing and over time due to friction with the fluid passing through its interior ends up changing significantly. Hydraulic dimensioning requires the designer to know the pressure drop of the pipeline, which depends on the roughness. Incorrect load loss estimates can occur due to the inaccuracy of the roughness value. The calibration and modeling of water supply systems is usually a laborious process, which often uses trial and error methods, however, there are currently optimization programs, software that facilitate this work. The present article consists of the creation of a digital twin applied to a pilot water supply system to estimate pipe roughness. The digital twin was modeled from the characteristics of the electric motor, pump and frequency inverter, valve and connecting hydraulic components. To achieve the objective of this work, twenty-four possible scenarios were performed with speed and pressure control of the system. The results obtained show the maximum tracking error of 5%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the methodology and its applicability in larger scenarios.
